I'm on the internet!
Also, on the About page, there is a link where you can download a zip file of Mucha's Slav Epics. Its all the good detail shots of the paintings that I could nab while in Moravsky Krumlov.
Let me know if you have any ideas for my domain name. All the obvious ones with my name are taken. : (

ooh?
I read this article about more people in urban areas choosing to raise their own chickens for organic eggs and meat. So, this strutting rooster is in Seattle.

Fowl
Ink sketches of a few of my mom's now dead and soon to be feasted on chickens. It concerns me that she feels no guilt.

Notes on Sargent from his models
I pulled that from a blog I stumbled on. It's full of informative quotes, images, and all sorts of enlightening bits. Thank you, Gail Sauter.

Working it out.
The piece is based on Jeanne de Valois who created quite a scandal for the french monarchy right before the revolution. She claimed she was a close confidant/ lover of Marie Antoinette's in order to obtain money and favors from the Cardinal. Not nice at all but really daring.

Sleepy
Kampa "Island" is really just a piece of land cut off from the rest of Mala Strana by the Charles River. Regardless, it's a relaxing place to just sit and sketch. So, this is just one of the few statues there.
Brno time.
I was at a working cloister just outside of Brno in Moravia. I got a tour of the some of the church, but there are definite restrictions where the nuns are that are forbidden. There's all sorts of little buildings and the careless and adventurous kid in me wanted to explore. But, nuns are kinda scary, so no go.
Just a view of a church in Brno, Moravia. In case you were wondering, it rained nearly every day that I was in the Czech Republic until the very last few days before I had to leave.

Again
After a critique with Robin Cody, I made a few quick adjustments to the piece. She said that it looked too much like it was done from a photo reference as opposed to life. So, I just adjusted some of the darks of throughout the piece to get some of the color back, but beyond that, I don't know if I can really fix it.

Get the word out
Portrait Night is starting up again. Sorry for all the delay.
If you don't know, PN is simply where students get together and draw each other as we pose. It's free and a good opportunity for everyone to practice their skills. The facebook group: Portrait Night, should be able to answer your questions. Join up and come out! Partying isn't the only thing you can do on a Saturday night.

Slav Epics
Just a taste of my trip to see Mucha's Slav Epics. They are in the original chateau where he worked on them (because there is no gallery large enough to accommodate them in Prague) and even then its difficult to see them.
So you can estimate the scale, I got as close to the canvas as I could with the timer on my camera and the booties you have to where to protect the floor trying to trip me. But, the castle itself doesn't appear at all hospitable or like there are anyone's masterpieces housed there. I still need to sort through the pictures of the paintings themselves before I can upload a folder for people to grab. It's on the way. Until then, na zdravi (cheers)!
By the way, this tourist map was the only map I could find of the place, so I'm pretty proud of myself for finding the paintings at all.
